We designed print catalogs, to ads, sell sheets, and online interactive media. The challenge in designing for the Times is to create something so extraordinary that the reader feels compelled to notice and act on that appeal. Whether it’s fashion, home decor, the Book Review or the Sunday Magazine section, much time and thought went into every design.
NYT derives about two-thirds of its revenue from advertising. Explaining the demographics of their readership to their advertisers without resorting to graphs and charts was one of the major challenges. The piece, “more edit, more product, more wealth of styles” utilizes vellum overlaying part of the image. Our design assignments for the Times were elegant, chic and fun to read.
